Beet Street joins the Downtown Business Associationand Arts Alive Fort Collins in presenting our inaugural jazz festival featuring a jazz clinic, multiple stages, regional jazz groups and nationally recognized headliner. Downtown sessions continue throughout Old Town at various participating clubs and restaurants.

Highlights include:

Thursday, July 10
New Belgium Brewing hosts a special Bike to the Movies with an outdoor showing of Jazz on a Summer’s Day (film of the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival) and featuring a live jazz quartet.

Friday, July 11
Beet Street hosts an eye-opening lecture at the Sunset Event Center
Jazz in the 21st Century featuring Dr. Scott DeVeaux, Associate Professor of Musicology/Director of Graduate Studies at University of Virginia (UVA). DeVeaux is recognized as one of the foremost authorities on Jazz, African-American and American Music. He will discuss how differently we think about jazz now – 100 years after it was created.

Immediately following this presentation the Fort Jazz, a 19-piece big band will be featured at Swingin’ in the 21st Century a free dance presented by Arts Alive and Downtown Business Assoiciation.

Saturday, July 12
