Doc Severinsen Cancels Lincoln Center PerformanceSometimes the rhythm of life includes an unexpected bit of syncopation. Such is the case for celebrated American bandleader Doc Severinsen, who has cancelled an upcoming Fort Collins concert due to illness. Severinsen – a legendary trumpet player and the longtime conductor of the NBC Orchestra during Johnny Carson’s “Tonight Show” tenure – is suffering from shingles, a painful, blistering rash caused by the same virus as chicken pox. He was scheduled to appear on Saturday, July 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Center in Fort Collins, along with the Latin-influenced band El Ritmo de la Vida (literally, “the rhythm of life”). The Lincoln Center Box Office will automatically issue refunds to those who have purchased tickets for the performance, as hosting organization Beet Street has not yet determined whether the concert will be rescheduled. “We are disappointed to have to cancel the concert, and we know there were many community members who were looking forward to enjoying the musical collaboration between Doc and El Ritmo de la Vida,” said Ryan Keiffer, Beet Street’s executive director. “That said, we certainly understand the need for Doc to take the time to recuperate, and we wish him a speedy return to good health.” Ticket refunds for Doc Severinsen and El Ritmo de la Vida will be issued automatically by the Lincoln Center Box Office. Those customers who paid via credit card will see a refund posted to the credit card account used for the purchase, and those who have paid with cash or check will be mailed a refund check. There is no need to contact the Lincoln Center Box Office to initiate the refund process; customers can expect to receive refunds within the next 30 days. |
